Snow Plan

The Snow Plan 2022/23

In case of heavy snowfall or hard frost, paths will be cleared and gritted to the main entrance and from the playground gate through the playground to the main rear entrance.

A risk assessment will be made at playtimes and at lunchtimes as to whether the playgrounds are safe.

If the snow is so severe that London’s transport system and roads are badly affected, then a decision may be taken to close the school before the start of the school day (8.00am at the latest). In situations like this then the school’s community should check the school’s website or check the school’s railings for posters. Alternatively, you can telephone the school on 0208 472 0761 to check. We will do our very best to staff the telephone.

It would be very rare to close the school after the school day has started. Only if the building itself became danger (heating or electricity failure) would closure be considered. In situations such as this, we would contact the parents of our youngest children first, and not let children leave before parents and carers have arrived to collect their children.

If the Head Teacher did take the decision to close the school because of very heavy snowfall, then the Business Manager would be contacted and then texts sent to the whole of the school staff.
