Science

At Shaftesbury, children learn about a variety of scientific topics to develop their skills, knowledge and understanding. During this academic year, there will be a strong emphasis on scientific enquiry where children are given the freedom to ask and eventually answer their own questions as a topic progresses. Working scientifically will mean children have the opportunity to engage in hands-on activities that build on skills such as teamwork and co-operation, as well as hopefully igniting their curiosity. In addition, these investigations will help provide a deeper understanding of the world that surrounds them. Any practical tasks will work alongside theory based lessons that will enable children to predict, observe and then explain their findings.
