At Shaftesbury Primary School, we aim to develop our pupils to become healthy, responsible and independent members of society. We encourage all children to play a positive role in contributing to school life and the wider community through class activities, a nominated Junior Leadership Team (JLT), fundraising events that support nominated charities and involvement in community activities.

As well as this, PSHE is taught as a discrete subject each week. Children will learn vital skills that will prepare them for living in the wider world. These varied topics that are taught and built upon each year include:

  • Keeping safe
  • Relationships
  • Managing Feelings
  • Rights and responsibilities
  • Topical debates
  • Human Development
  • Bullying
  • Community
  • Managing Money
